3D printed eyes for a new puppet
Showing progress on a new character for my Halloween show. The eye mechanism was printed from Will Cogley's simple eye mechanism. I painted and cast the eyes and resin following his instructions.
This video is to show the servo to potentiometer interface I had to make.

    I’m making a Roberts Fogger this year and am super excited! I bought the 10 head mister but am wondering about the float. I’m a super novice when it comes to stuff. Do I need a float for the mister or can I just plunk the mister into the bottom of the “chiller box”?

    • @intocoasters
      @intocoasters Месяц назад

      Hi! thank you! And I can't wait to hear about your build. The simple answer is, yes, you should definitely use a float. There is an optimum depth for the misting unit to function properly. As fog passes through and leaves the chiller, it will bring a lot of the water vapor out with it. This will lower your water height. Eventually the misting unit will stop functioning with a water level drops too low. The float will allow you to have a deeper chamber of water while maintaining the proper operating depth. The missing unit will not work at all if there is too much water above it. Again, that's where the float is helpful. I really hope this helps. And wishing you awesome luck for your build!

    Very cool, but wow is that an elaborate way to do the servos! :) I have been working on a board with a couple of friends that is based on the "Jawduino" but controls a bunch more. It's basically an arduino nano and an mp3 player that will sync the jaw servo with anything that is on the mp3 SD card, it also operates 4 other servos to do random movements at different speeds and operates LEDs etc. Hopefully, I'll have a video of it up soon. I really love the look of that pumpkin head man!

    Looks awesome. I like the new character. The Servos to potentiometer seems like a clunky way to do that, too bad there isn't a better way to interface the board. If it's PWM, could you charge a capacitor to build up a DC level... hmmm... maybe it's not as responsive. That's a tough one to think about, but I like the character

    • @intocoasters
      @intocoasters Месяц назад

      Yes indeed it is clunky... and has a lag. But I am not any good at altering arduino code to read the LOR servo outputs instead of the joystick. My first attempt was to control the joystick directly with servos - that was a disaster. This iteration is much more compact and reliable. But I am sure it could be tighter with a direct connection between the LOR controller and the arduino uno. I just don't know what to rewrite to make it happen. And thank you! This guy has been a blast to build! I can't wait to show off the entire puppet when complete!

    • @ge2719
      @ge2719 Месяц назад

      @@intocoasters don't all servos already have pots? I thought that's what made them servos and not just motors.

    • @intocoasters
      @intocoasters Месяц назад

      @@ge2719 you are correct! The pot in the servo tells the motor when it has reached the target position. That's internal feedback for the motor itself. The pots outside, like in a joystick or a radio controler, those tell the servo motor what the target is. When you move the joystick you're turning a potentiometer to a certain position between 0 and 100% of its value (this will affect a PWM signal that is sent to the servo) The servo motor then moves to try to match that value. That's kind of an oversimplified version of how it works.

    hey @intocoasters. i am anne, from holland, and i have also a dark ride at home, it does need to be set up and then taken down again, but that didn't make the fun xD. but i have IR sensors, a motor driver, multiple, one to max 20amps, and other to 30amps and one to 60amps, continue current, a 250w motor, a battery deep cycle 47ah. i have it all good hooked up, from battery to fuseholder, to motor driver h bridge, and back to the battery, and motor positive by positive and negative by negative. i have the ground to a esp32 arduino board, and the L_PWM and R_PWM connected to the positive of the line that i also have the ir sensors vcc having connected, and also connected to the esp32, and i have the L_EN and R_EN connected to the 2 ir sensors, one apart. but now the tricky is, i have ir sensors that have a power light, and a indicator light, by signal, but as i have the output of the sensors connected, to the l_en and the r_en, the indicator light will always be on, also if there is no signal from the sensor itself. how can i fix this? it seems that there going signal through the l_en and r_en lines, that will always will the ir sensors turned on. it is also that the sensors if connected, that they are very hot. do you have a connecting diagram, how i can connect it? if so, you can send it me via mail or via a link, of dropbox. this is my mail: anneschepers108@gmail.com. thanks for helping. • @intocoasters
      @intocoasters 2 месяца назад

      It's still heats fog juice, that happens in the fog machine sitting on top of the unit. Once the hot fog comes out of your standard fog machine it then runs through the chamber that's filled with mist. The fog particles cling on to the water vapor and there's some thermal energy transfer when this happens which both cools it down and makes it heavier. At least that's how I understand how it works.
